Located on the pier of Deerfield Beach, Florida is a custom-fabricated porthole, but that isn't the only thing that makes this AIS project special.
Funded by the Deerfield Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), the porthole measures 7 ft. x 7 ft. and is fitted with marine-grade brass attachments and decorative vinyl. Housed inside the cabinet is a 55-inch weather-proof LED television connected to an underwater camera that feeds real-time ocean footage back to viewers on the pier in 4K Ultra HD resolution.
The live-art component also extended beyond the pier through an online stream, where viewers could watch and catalog marine life together.
